Pál Joensen won the men’s 800 freestyle at the 2011 Duel in the Pool a minute ago, in a new Faroese and Nordic record of 7:36.24. Convincing victory too, as USA’s Michael Klueh was No. 2 in 7:39.90, and Denmark’s Mads Glæsner No. 3 in 7:42.27. Pál’s former Faroese record was from back in the…

Pál chose to race for gold in the…

Since this is Pál’s day off before the 1500 tomorrow, he spends part of it training aerobically, so that he’ll be able to swim fast also at the Duel in the Pool in Atlanta next weekend. 20K today, I heard his coach say, and we don’t bother finding another pool to train in. Pál himself…

Another 4th spot for Pál Joensen
It is not the same as a medal, that’s for sure, but still his best result in the 400 freestyle, and a textile best. Now we calculate and prepare for the final in the 1500 on Saturday, all very happy! :-) See result list here.

And another full-blood Faroese was 10th in 3:44.68, Frans Johannesen whose parents are from Faroe Islands, but who swims for Denmark…
