Dear Jón, you can have that tattoo now !
Very internal joke, so much that he doesn’t even know about it! Got this picture from Jón before the 2011 Duel in the Pool finals this evening, and my first thought was “Jón, don’t get that tattoo!”. Reflecting on the miserable performance of the Europeans, yesterday evening. He told me that it was jet lag…

Imagine swimming 20K in this pressure cooker

I ask what Dr. Gharavi…

Interviewing Dr Homayun Gharavi – Part 1
This last week we had Dr Homayun Gharavi MD PhD PhD visiting Pál Joensen and Jón Bjarnason in their home pool in Vágur, Suðuroy, Faroe Islands, where he did intensive work with Pál and also conducted quite a few dryland sessions for him, his club and some visitors. This is a big shot double-PhD medical…

Moving into the upper echelon
These past few weeks have been quite humbling for us in Faroese swimming, with people acknowledging the little or lot we have managed to do with miniscule resources. Pál was invited to join the Europe team in the “Duel in the Pool” against USA in December, we had 4 young swimmers (and a coach) doing…

2 clever coaches in Kastrup
Went to Korsør in Denmark last weekend, to attend the annual “Aqua Clinic“, featuring Sean Kelly this year, head coach at Stockport Metro (Keri-Anne Payne, James Goddard, (quarter Faroese) David Carry and others). He was great, tough but emphatic, thinking not only about what happens in the pool, but also about his swimmers’ and coaches’…
