Earlier this month, a Central Florida diver broke the world record for longest saltwater dive by almost five minutes after spending two days under turbulent seas. 45-year-old Allen Sherrod dove in at 10:12 AM Thursday morning December 1st when the sea was flat, but that swiftly changed and conditions deteriorated, meaning he had to spend much of his time kneeling on the sea floor to stabilize himself and prevent seasickness, while clinging to an artificial reef to fend off strong currents. But he broke the now former record of 48 hours, 8 minutes and 7 seconds, now 48 hours and 13 minutes, having only a few ribs broken and hands swollon and skin broken and stuff like that. Aussies to take the underwater ironing world record back from the Dutch
So there is a “Underwater Extreme Ironing” battle going on that many of us haven’t heard of, between Australia and the Netherlands and UK, Poland, New Zealand and probably other countries too. The Netherlands hold the record of 173 scuba divers ironing underwater simulteneusly in March, but now Australia wants the record back, aiming for a whopping 200. Woman allergic to water unable to cry or swim
25-year-old Katie Dell suffers from a rare disease called aquagenic urticarial that makes her skin react with pain and rashes if drenched in water. She left her job as a dance trainer because sweat causes her rashes, she has to rush her baths, cannot cry and cannot do the dishes. Very internal joke, so much that he doesn’t even know about it! Got this picture from Jón before the 2011 Duel in the Pool finals this evening, and my first thought was “Jón, don’t get that tattoo!”. Reflecting on the miserable performance of the Europeans, yesterday evening. He told me that it was jet lag and general tiredness, but well, Pál somehow pulled through! :-)
