A popular Gold Coast swimming spot has been contaminated after a major sewerage pipe burst.
Tallebudgera Creek remains closed between Schuster Park and Tallebudgera Creek Beach near the Neptune Royal Surf Life Saving Club following the sewage spill.
Water samples have been collected from Tallebudgera Creek, but test results are still yet to come back.
Residents and visitors have been warned – however, they have continued to visit the swimming spot to escape the summer heat.
The pipe has since been repaired.
The council is investigating how the pipe broke and if road works are to blame.

“It was moving pretty gingerly and swam only 200 or 300 meters before it really seemed to sort of stop. Its respiration gave us some signs that it really was coming to the end,” said Mark Cugley, Incident Controller from the Parks and Wildlife Service.
