A swimming pool that took the Eastern Cape sports and recreation department over 10 years to complete is still not open. According to a Ground-Up report, Mlonyeni Construction was appointed in 2008. The rough conditions at the Rottnest Swim event made it difficult for emergency services to rescue swimmers.
One woman was airlifted to the Royal Perth Hospital and another man was taken to Fremantle for treatment.
