Olympics 2024: Summer Mcintosh’s Family Celebrate “Surreal” Moment She Won Gold For Canada | Global News

Following the gold medal win of Summer McIntosh in the 400-metre individual swimming medley at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Global News caught up with the Toronto-based champion’s family.

Mother Jill, father Greg and sister Jill McIntosh sat among the crowd in Paris on Monday, as they watched the youngest in their family make their country proud, after becoming the first Canadian woman take gold in the race that combines butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle – in that order.

“You can’t be at this level not being a very hard worker, so, we’re most proud about that and the person she is, and how she represents her country,” Jill McIntosh said, reflecting on the “surreal” victorious moment.

Summer’s first place victory comes just two days after the 17-year-old brought home a silver medal for Canada, in the 400-metre freestyle on opening night at the pool.
