13 years into the Syrian war, we honor the resilience of brave refugees like Mohammed Marei, who had to leave their home country behind.
At 53 years old, Marei isn’t just a swimmer and a triathlete, he’s also a swim instructor, training Syrians and Egyptians in Cairo. He embraced sports at a time of hardship, and in doing so reminded us of the boundless potential within us all.
We hope Marei can, one day, achieve his dream of competing on the international stage.
