Rescue Drone Trial Hopes to Save Lives at Sea | BBC News

A new rescue drone is being trialed in the UK, aimed to help people who have got into difficulty at sea.

The drone, which is waterproof and has a camera attached to it, can fly, float, and carry a buoyancy aid, which can then be remotely dropped into the water.

Researchers think the device will be useful in assisting lifeguards when rescuing someone miles out at sea, because of how fast it can fly.

It is the first system of its kind to be trialed in the UK.
