Palestine – The Paralympic Committee Launches a Swimming Championship for the Lower Limb Amputees | A24 News Agency EN

The Paralympic committee inaugurated the swimming championship for the lower limb amputees who mainly lost their limbs in the 2018–2019 Gaza border protests. Categorization and race distances are based on the level of the disability, as distances range between 25 to 50 meters. It is worth mentioning that winners of such races will be eligible to participate in championships held outside Gaza. However, amputees complained that there are no pools in Gaza and they were accordingly forced into training in the sea, where circumstances are way different in terms of water’s saltiness. This was coupled with closing borders that made it impossible for swimmers to participate in any championships outside Gaza.
