FINA is delighted to announce that the FINA World Championships (25m) 2022 in Kazan (RUS) will be held from 17-22 December 2022 at the Aquatics Palace in Kazan, Russia.

Hosts of the 16th FINA World Championships 2015 and the recent FINA Swimming World Cup 2021, Kazan will welcome over 1,200 athletes from more than 180 countries around the world to compete over six action-packed days of competition.

“We are absolutely delighted to be returning to Kazan for the FINA World Championships (25m) 2022 in Kazan (RUS). This city loves aquatics sports. The facilities are world class and provide the ultimate environment for the athletes to perform at the very highest level,” said FINA President Captain Husain Al-Musallam.

In addition to the competitions held in Kazan, the city is well known to the swimming world as home of the FINA Development Centre. The Centre provides the opportunity for FINA National Federations to have access to high-performance training facilities, thus ensuring greater equality of opportunity for swimmers. The Centre is a project of Kazan’s Directorate for Sports and Social Projects, which links elite events with development programmes and tangible legacy benefits for the local community.

“As home to the state-of-the-art Kazan FINA Development Centre, Kazan is already doing so much for the development and education of future swimming stars. Hosting the FINA World Championships will be an opportunity to continue this journey and develop the next generation of aquatics athletes in the Republic of Tatarstan and beyond.”

“Our collaboration with FINA continues to go from strength to strength following the incredibly successful FINA World Championships in 2015,” said Vladimir Leonov, Minister of Sport of the Republic of Tatarstan. â€œKazan is incredibly passionate about sport, especially aquatics. Therefore, I know that the athletes travelling to Kazan from around the world will receive the warmest of welcomes. We look forward to hosting a memorable event for the athletes, fans and officials, an event that will encourage people all of ages in the Republic of Tatarstan to take to the water.”
