No singing and chanting, Covid-19 rules unveiled for delayed Tokyo Olympics

Extraordinary measures to fight Covid-19, including a ban on singing and chanting at events and a mask mandate for all participants, will be in place for the delayed Tokyo Games when they get underway in July 2021. Olympic organizing officials unveiled the rules on February 3, 2021, acknowledging that the Games this year will be “different” from any other past events. The Tokyo Olympics had been scheduled to take place in July and August 2020 but were postponed because of the global pandemic.
