China’s World Record Holder Swimmers Compete on New Year’s Day

The first Chinese national swimming competition ever held on New Year’s Day is taking place in Shijiazhuang, capital of north China’s Hebei Province. Olympic Games gold medalist and world champion Ye Shiwen, men’s 100m breaststroke Asian record holder Yan Zibei and a number of other renowned swimmers are expected to join in the competition. In action today are 50m and 400m freestyle, 100m breaststroke, 200m butterfly, and 200m individual medley finals.
