A new survey commissioned by Swim Australia, the peak body for swimming instructors, shows Australian children â€“ maybe as many as half â€“ are not attending swimming lessons this year. The parents say it is too expensive and there is some COVID-related reluctance. And it is not just the children who canâ€™t swim. According to Brendon Ward, the CEO of Swim Australia, over half the parents surveyed said they had only basic or poor swimming skills themselves.
