Argentina: Paralympian receives swimming pool to train during lockdown

Argentinian Paralympic swimmer Sebastian Galleguillo received an unusual gift from a local businessman, as the coronavirus lockdown affected the young athlete’s training.

Sebastian Oviedo installed a swimming pool in Galleguillo’s backyard, as footage filmed in Buenos Aires on Monday shows.

“To Sebastian Oviedo, who gave me the pool I would give him a million thank yous for this, which is an immense happiness and that I would have never imagined it,” said the swimmer.

Galleguillo, a member of Argentina’s national deaf swimming team, is aiming to qualify for the 2021 Deaflympics in Brazil.

“I train for an hour from Monday to Monday, which is what the training lasts, now my coach started to add more meters, so it is 2,800 metres per day, and so the idea is to keep adding metres until reaching the goal of returning to the same number of meters I used to swim, then we have to polish the performance,” said the athlete.
