Learning to Swim is a Human Right | Tiffany Monique Quash | TEDxBloomingtonWomen

Quash’s talk engages the audience in a dialogue to examine the roots of our swimming history. Using historical data and statistical analysis, Quash addresses the participatory disconnect between proficient Black (inclusive of the Trans-Atlantic Diaspora) swimmers and the current statistics provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the World Health Organization. In addition to addressing the public health pandemic of drowning, this speaker encourages audience members to be actively engaged in Water Safety Education by participating in International Water Safety Day on May 15th (www.internationalwatersafetyday.org/) and other forms of community collaboration.
