Oman’s first female Olympic swimmer makes history

Oman’s Lara Al Yafei has made history by becoming the first Omani female swimmer to represent her country at an Olympics event.

The 16-year-old represented Oman at the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

She finished third among eight competitors in the opening heat of the 50 m breast stroke competition with a personal best of 37.35 seconds.
