Pernille Blume: Home ground will be an experience of a lifetime

In 100 days, the European Swimming Championships will be staged in spectacular Royal Arena in Copenhagen.

The countdown for the 19th edition of LEN European Short Course Championships has begun. In 100 days, the Danish capital of Copenhagen will be ready to receive the top swimmers of Europe in beautiful state-of-the-art surroundings.

The five-day championships are to be staged in Royal Arena, where the European swimming elite will race in a temporary pool in front of a crowd of up to 6.000 spectators. The brand-new arena has already hosted great music acts like Metallica, Drake, The Weeknd and Bruno Mars, but come December the Danish national swimming team will be led by equally international names like Olympic medallists Pernille Blume, Rikke Møller Pedersen and Mie Ø. Nielsen, accompanied by Olympic finalist Viktor Bromer and a huge Danish national team.

This is the second time Denmark hosts the Len European Short Course Championships, taking on the heritage from Herning 2013. This time, the Danish Swimming Federation partners with Sport Event Denmark, Wonderful Copenhagen, the Municipality of Copenhagen, The Capital Region and Hovedstadens Swimming Club.

Pernille Blume: The home crowd will be special

Pernille Blume herself is thrilled to be competing at home ground:

– I can’t wait to compete at the LEN European Short Course Swimming Championships on home ground in Copenhagen. It’s going to be a thrilling experience for me and the rest of the Danish team. We rarely get to have a Danish crowd on the stands cheering for us, so it’s going to be very special for us. I also can’t wait to swim in the brand new Royal Arena, and I’m sure it will be both intense and spectacular this December, says Pernille Blume.

High performance manager: We can’t wait to welcome Europe

It will be an absolutely amazing sporting event for everyone taking part in it, and we can’t wait to welcome swimming fans from all over Europe.
