Israel is getting ready to welcome the participants of the European Short-Course Swimming Championships on 2-6 December – and those coming to Netanya will be numerous as a record participation is in sight with a month to go: so far 47 nations have registered preliminary entries.
At the last site visit conducted this week, LEN representatives could witness a precise delivery of the organisers’ masterplan. Inspections and discussions with the LOC leaders have convinced LEN Sports&Office Manager Marco Birri and LEN Technical Swimming Committee Chairman Soren Korbo that the Israeli hosts meet all demands in the key areas.
“The venue at the Wingate Institute is a great site for our championships†Marco Birri said. “Its 10-lane pool is regarded one of the fastest with its 3m depth and the warm-up facilities can also accommodate the record number of delegations. The organisers are taking care every little detail both at the venue and all participants’ accommodation and transport.â€
For the first time in the history of the s/c Europeans the event will last for five days. Heats will start at 9.00hrs, the semis and finals are due at 17.00hrs.
