An intoxicated 40-year-old swimmer pushed her luck by splashing a county marine patrol officer, then ran out of luck by biting him, an arrest report states.
Sheriff’s deputies on marine patrol at the Silver Glen Run near Astor said they spotted Amy Allen swimming in a boating lane with a pool float toy at about 6:15 p.m. Saturday. An arrest affidavit said the Odessa woman asked if she could climb aboard the marked patrol boat.
Deputies told Allen to return to her anchored boat for her own safety. She said they had arrested her husband previously for no reason. The affidavit noted the husband had been arrested by Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officers.
Deputies said Allen then began swimming from boat to boat, asking someone to give her a ride. Deputies said when they approached Allen, offering to transport her back to her own boat, she splashed one of them and began screaming that they had arrested her husband.
“Given the obvious slurred speech and disruptive actions, I advised her she had left me no choice but to arrest her for disorderly intoxication,†the arresting officer said.
Allen continued splashing the same deputy and bit him on the forearm when he and the other deputy tried to handcuff her, the affidavit states.
