The Boys & Girls Clubs swim camp on Chicago’s west side is one of ten across the country this year and is inspired by one family`s water tragedy.

6-year-old Zachary Cohn of Connecticut drowned in 2007 after getting caught in a pool drain.

He is the namesake for the Zac Foundation which was started by his parents who are now partnering with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America to teach kids not only how to swim, but to avoid danger.

Karen and Brian Cohn, a Chicagoland native has also written a children’s book in Zac’s memory, “The Polar Bear Who Couldn’t, Wouldn’t Swim.”
