The Charlotte swimming community joined together Wednesday to help raise money for three people injured in the Boston Marathon bombings.

Nicole Gross is a tri athlete coach at the Mecklenburg Aquatics Center in Uptown. She, along with her husband Michael Gross and her sister Erika Brannock were injured when two pressure cooker bombs exploded near the finish line of the Boston Marathon in April.

On Wednesday, the Aquatics Center opened it’s doors for a series of coached swimming workouts. The group raised just under $10,000 from the workouts.
