Some of New Zealand’s greatest swimmers are celebrating a new world record – not just breaking the old mark, but annihilating it. Double Olympic champion Danyon Loader came out of retirement for the occasion, while Commonwealth Games medalist John Steel entertained as much of the Millenium Institute pool as in it. Former Commonwealth Games champion Moss Burmester was first out of the blocks for the North Shore club team as they embarked on the 100x25m journey, his 11.5s well inside the pace needed to break the record of just over 30 minutes, set in Sweden 30 years ago.
