A team behind swimmer Molly Renshaw is appealing against her exclusion from Team GB after the squad for London 2012 was announced on Sunday. At the first stage of trials in London in March, Stacey Tadd won the 200m breaststroke within the required FINA A time to book one spot, but outside the tougher requirement of world-ranked top 16 time. At the second trials in Sheffield last week, Renshaw won the race but finished 0.83 outside the qualifying standard – again the FINA A time. The petition claims Renshaw has been penalised because while they complied with British Swimming practice that her primary event for the summer would be the European Junior Championships, this weakened her performance in Sheffield last week. Renshaw is a clear favorite to win the European Juniors 200 breaststroke, see the start list. Read more here on MailOnline

[…] Great Britain’s Mollow Renshaw took the gold in 2:27.66 ahead of Hungary’s Anna Sztankovics in 2:28.63 and Great Britain’s Sophie Taylor in 2:29.55, Renshaw the favorite all the way through with an entry time of 2:26.81, prelims leading time of 2:29.51 and semifinals best time of 2:28.59. Hopefully encouragement for the talented Brit who missed out on the Olympics. […]
