Mathias Gydesen 54.75 in the Indy 100 back, outside the FINA A standard

Danish swimmer Mathias Gydesen managed a 54.75 and joint 3rd with Ryan Lochte in the men’s 100 backstroke at the Indianapolis Grand Prix a moment ago, meaning that he probably missed the qualification for the London 2012 Olympics, after being only one hundredth of a second outside the FINA A qualification time of 54.40 this morning.

Situation is therefore still that there will be 9 swimmers on the Danish Olympic Team: Lotte Friis (400 & 800 free, 4×100 free), Jeanette Ottesen (50 & 100 free, 4×100 free, 4×100 medley), Rikke Møller Pedersen (100 & 200 breast, 4×100 medley), Pernille Blume (50 & 100 free, 4×100 free, 4×100 medley), Mie Ø. Nielsen (100 back, 4×100 free, 4×100 medley), Pál Joensen (400 & 1500 free, 4×200 free), Mads Glæsner (400 free, 4×200 free), Daniel Skaaning (4×200 free) and Anders Lie (4×200 free), Daniel Skaaning and Anders Lie though only if the Danish 4×200 freestyle is among the 16 fastest in the world at the deadline in June.

If I understand their system correctly, only one more swimmer can make the team, when Kathrine Holm Sørensen competes as only Danish swimmer at the Debrecen 2012 Europeans in May. That is if Gydesen is not selected to join Holm Sørensen at the Europeans or something.
