19-year-old Austrian Olympic swimming team member Jakup Maly had spent much of Sunday digging a hole 2.1 meters deep by 1.8 meters wide on Pompano Beach in Florida, when the sand collapsed around him. CBS Miami say that he was ‘seriously injured’ and had to be supplied with oxygen while they worked, but also fortunately that his friends, who gathered at the hospital, said they believe he will be OK after treatment.
