Troféu Maria Lenk: Cielo rattles 50 free world textile record

At the Maria Lenk Trophy yesterday evening, Brazil’s Cesar Ceilo almost posted a world textile best in the men’s 50 freestyle, scorching the pool in 21.38 seconds, where Fréderick Bousquet’s world textile record is 21.36 from the 2010 Europeans. Bruno Fratus managed a second best in the world this year in the prelims, clocking 21.70, where James Magnussen’s now 3rd best time in the world this year is 21.74 from the Australian Trials.

Denmark’s Jeanette Ottesen won both the 50 freestyle (25.06) and the 100 butterfly (58.64), and helped the Corinthians’ to a win in the womens 4×200 freestyle, together with Lotte Friis who the day before had posted meet records in the women’s 200 freestyle (1:59.65) and 1500 freestyle (16:11.76).
